VAS ARADHANA CEREMONY 2025
RAINY RETREAT INVITATION
Will be held at the Samadhi Buddhist Vihara on Saturday, 5th July 2025 at 5.00 pm
Ven. Makuldeniye Somarathana and Ven. Waradiwela Saddhajeewa theros will observe Vassana precept in this Vassana season.
The 2025 Vassana season will be sponsored by,

The programe details are as follows,
5:00 pm – 5:45 pm – Vandana, Gilanpasa pooja & Pirith Sajjayana
5:45 pm – 6:45 pm – Inviting Maha Sangha to observe VAS precept
6:45 pm – 7:15 pm – Offering Gilanpasa for maha Sangha
7:15 pm – 8:00 pm – Refreshment for congregation
The tradition of Vassana (Rainy Retreat) was started during the time of the Buddha. Full ordained Buddhist Monks and lay followers all over the world continue to observe the Rainy Retreat for a duration of three months, from the full moon day in July to the full moon day in October. During this time, they dedicate their time to spiritual activities such as practicing meditation and studying the Dhamma. This gives an opportunity for lay community to take care of the Monks by offering them food, drinks, medicine etc. and also to participate in spiritual activities during this time.
